
International Conference of Women Media Leaders in Washington, D.C.
The International Women's Media Foundation and George Washington University's Global Media Institute partnered on a path-breaking conference in Washington, bringing together top women media executives from around the world to discuss remaining gender barriers and craft a plan for the future. A long-awaited global report on the status of women in the news media around the world was unveiled at the conference.

Marvin Kalb to share her insights on the transformation of journalism, the state of the evening news, and gender barriers in the newsroom. The Kalb Report public television, radio and online series is produced by the George Washington University Global Media Institute, Harvard University and the National Press Club. The series is underwritten by a grant from Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation. This program is presented before a live studio audience comprising students and professional journalists at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The long-awaited "Global Report on Women in the News Media" will be unveiled at this session. IWMF board co-chair Barbara Cochran will welcome the delegates. IWMF board member Judy Woodruff of PBS NewsHour will outline the purpose of the conference. Katty Kay of BBC World News America will provide an overview of the report before a panel discussion where you will hear from the Global Study’s principal investigator and author Carolyn M.
